The Evolution of a Front Door
Guys... Let me tell you about my front door. I have lived in my house for less than two years and I am on the fourth color, yes fourth color.
I started with red, of course the staple red door with the white house and black shutters. It looked great, super rich and stately. I live in a historic neighborhood, so the homes are unique with the character you cannot find anymore. Red made sense, or so I thought.
It's pretty right?
Then like most interior designers, who love changing things up, I got an idea in my head that a modern yellow would look amazing. So yellow it was. I was known as the "yellow door girl" in my neighborhood, because at that point I don't think anyone had gone that bold.
it works...
Around the fall/winter of last year I thought yellow didn't fit the charm and character of the home, so I researched some charming colors and found something called " Sultry Smoke by Behr." I wonder what comes to your mind when you hear this name? Grey? Well, it was grey with a hint of purple, but turned out to be purple with a hint of grey. At the time I was dating my now husband, and I thought, great... I'm sure he would love to at some point live in a house with a purple door...NOT.
excuse my grass...winter
I kinda see some grey...
All these previous colors never set right, they never felt like this is what encapsulates this homes charm. So, of course I decided it needed yet another color. My now husband and I went over to Home Depot and looked at what we thought were some options. I had it in my head at this point that I needed to have a bluish door. Something teal and bright. We decided on Timberlake Teal, by Glidden.
For now, I love it. I still don't know if this is the "it" color. But I think it is the closest to liking the color on the door. And really, let's think about it, the easiest way to change a room or an object is with a fresh color/coat of paint. I already told my husband, "don't freak out if you come home one day for work, and we have a new door color."
